Under the auspices of National Hero Foundation second edition of Wonder Women of the Year Award is being organized on 08th March 2012, on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Out of hundreds nominations received through public nomination campaign and other sources, the governing council of NHF unanimously selected twenty five most inspirational women who will be crowned with the honor of “Wonder Women of the Year Award 2012”. This was announced by CEO National Hero Foundation, Shaikh Rashid Alam in a press conference at Karachi Press Club, along with NHF governing council members M. Shakil. Khan, S. Khursheed Akbar Shah, Abdul Hafeez Subhani, convener NHF women’s wing Ms. Huma Bukhari and others.
While stating the detail of 2nd Edition of “Wonder Women of the Year Award 2012” CEO National Hero Foundation Shaikh Rashid Alam said that this year awards have been classified in three different categories, three most inspirational women have been selected in the category of “Women Icon”; six in the category of “Women’s Pride” and seventeen in the category of “Women of Inspiration”. Shaikh Rashid Alam also stated that in second edition of Wonder Women of the Year Award 2012, for the first time overseas Pakistani women have also been included in the final selection and two Pakistani Canadian women; Ms. Salma Atta Ullah Jan member Canada Senate and Dr. Shehnaz Dar with exceptional track record have been selected for this honor. Stating further detail of 2nd Edition of Wonder Women Awards 2012, Shaikh Rashid Alam said that a grand ceremony for appreciation is programmed in honor of newly selected most inspirational award winners of 2012 on the occasion of International Women’s day i.e. 08th March 2012 at Pearl Continental Hotel Karachi in which will be presided by Honorable Speaker National Assembly, Dr. Fehmida Miarza; whereas the guest of honors are Internationally fame social worker Dr. Abdul Sattar Edhi, FATA Member Parliament and Chairman IPO Mr. Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi and the distinguished Journalist Mr. Mehmood Sham. He further informed that most of the awards recipients of the last year would also be present on this occasion. Furthermore, he pronounced that in order to commemorate the heroic deeds of the national heroes of Pakistan, NHF has plan to establish the first National Hero Park in the biggest city of Pakistan “KARACHI” on 14th August, 2012. In the proposed park statements of the heroic deeds of our national heroes and authentic references of their contribution for their homeland will be preserved and archived as a symbol of “pride and honor” and a “beacon of light” for the future generations and international community. This project will be further extended to Lahore and other provincial capitals.
Finally he also disclosed that in the same graceful ceremony of 14th August 2012; a gracefully colorful and voluminous book “Tum Ho Pakistan” based on the concise biographies of honored winners of Wonder Women Awards 2011 and 2012 will be launched at national and international level.
